Raiders search for a 9th win in a row to close in on top of the league.
Today, Raiders face Cirencester away from home in a huge game in the promotion picture.
We currently sit four points ahead of the hosts, meaning a win would take us seven points clear of the playoff chasers and two points behind league leaders, Droitwich Spa.
It will be a tough test, though, as Cirencester held us to a 0-0 draw at the DOADC stadium earlier this season.
Jordan Lewis ahead of the game: “ Cirencester are one of the best teams we’ve played this year, I was really impressed with how solid they were, so organised and hard working, but I am under no illusion that we are going to drop points or lose a game in the next 15”.
“A win would do us the world of good to keep the run going”.
Raiders made it 8 consecutive victories in all competitions last week, beating Mangotsfield 5-3 on penalties in the UHL cup quarter-finals.
Meaning on the 7th of March, Raiders will face Hereford Pegasus for a fourth time this season in the semi-finals.
Raiders progressed to the semifinals through pure fight in the second half against Mangotsfield, as yet again we responded well to being a goal down at the break.
On the 62nd minute, the lads equalised through great build-up play, Fuller teed up Hadley, who spun brilliantly in the box, forcing a save, leaving Jordan Murphy to tap it in on the rebound.
In the 73rd minute, we took the lead through the excellence of the right-hand side. Hadley and Bailey linked up again to create a move, and then Adam Taylor completed it by controlling the ball perfectly and slotting his strike away.
With Victory in sight Raiders suffered a late setback as the home side equalised in the 87th minute to make it 2-2.
And it was back-to-back penalty shootout delight for the Raiders, who held their nerve from the spot, converting all five penalties as young Travis Reid produced a crucial save to seal the victory.
Raiders now look forward to a huge game in Gloucestershire, a battle of 4th vs 6th.
The gaffer on training: “The lads are in good spirits; they have worked hard enough and had enough rest”.
Unfortunately, we’re without Sam Whitton, George Baker, and Connor Jakeways today. We wish them all a swift recovery
Manny's return is 50/50. However, Ben Sanogo is expected to return to the fold after not featuring since early January.
