Raiders host top of the league Roman Glass for the first match of the new year.
The last two games for Raiders have been fairly mixed. Firstly, we faced Step 3 side Bromsgrove Sporting in a battle for a place in the semifinals of the FA Invitational Cup. Raiders held Bromsgrove to a 0-0 draw, taking them all the way to penalties, but narrowly missed out, losing 5-4 on penalties.
A proud performance from Raiders- an average age of just 21.8 had the chances to win it against a tough Bromsgrove Sporting side.
However, 4 days later Raiders suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat away at Droitwich Spa.
It was a lively opening 10 minutes with a penalty given to each team. Droitwich slotted theirs away, and then soon after, Prince Henry had an opportunity to equalise when a handball was given. Henry took his chance and slotted it home, making it 2 goals in 2 appearances for the new signing.
As the half went on, Droitwich began to take control of the game and went 2-1 up before half-time. The Second half began, and Droitwich continued where they left off, dominating and picking up a 3rd goal early on. Manager Jordan Lewis looked to the bench and brought on young Lincoln Hunt, who again impressed off the bench. He split two defenders and nodded the ball home to get it back to 3-2. Unfortunately, the fight back quickly ended as Droitwich got a 4th to kill off the game.
Worcester Raiders now look forward to the first game of 2026 against high-flying Roman Glass.
Although Roman Glass are top Raiders are unbeaten against them this season winning 3-2 at home in the UHL Cup and drawing 0-0 away in the league while finishing the game 10 men.
Gaffer Jordan Lewis gives his thoughts ahead of the game: “We need to return to the basics, doing them well and keeping a good shape. We have beat Roman Glass at home this season already and had a good draw away from home, so we know they're a very good side, but also know some areas we can look to exploit. Hard work, run hard, and win individual battles is my message.”
Raiders can take positives from the two new signings, Prince Henry and Lincoln Hunt, performing well going into tomorrow's game, hoping to continue their form and push Raiders to all 3 points.
“Prince has started well, he's got a great past behind him, and he's a lovely lad, we just want to help get his confidence up and get him firing again. We know how good he can be for us and will be for us when he gets used to what we want.”
“Linc again has been great, really top lad who works so hard in game. No shrinking violet when it comes to getting stuck in and putting himself about. We're not 100% clear just now how long he will be with us on loan, but he's been a credit to himself and Walsall FC.”
A win would boost our Playoff hopes, possibly ending the day in 5th place, depending on whether Cirencester drops points.
Whereas a win for Roman Glass would extend their lead further at the top of the league.
