Two powerful headed goals in the first half by Donno and Murph, gave us a two-goal advantage going into the break. The first from a corner and the second from a superb cross by Baker-McKay.
Highworth never looked like scoring in the first half; any shots on goal were easily dealt with by Charlie. Raiders remained in control in the second half, Highworth really relying on long balls for their few attacking chances.
Highworth did eventually get the ball in the net, though, to the anger of their players and a very vocal coach in the dugout; it was ruled offside. Raiders immediately broke on the counter. Issac received the ball out wide on the left, took a touch, and released a fierce shot across the goal to score number three.
Baker-Makay, making his first start for Raiders, delivered a stunning performance which the Highworth defence could not handle. It was an outstanding team performance, Stodds was his usual dependable self in defence, and Captain Murphy is having an impressive season.
Six wins, one draw, and one loss, what a fantastic start to the season. We look forward to the Raiders' next game, at Mangotsfield, where we hope to keep the momentum going.
Raiders are currently joint second, with 75%, for the most clean sheets in the whole of non-league football. Just slightly behind Hamble Club FC with 80%.
