Worcester Raiders aim for a strong league finish ahead of playoffs.
Tomorrow, the lads face Corsham Town for the final league game of the season. Whereby full-time, Raiders will know who they will be facing in the 25/26 playoff semifinal on Tuesday night.
Manager Jordan Lewis, ahead of Corsham,“Some momentum and rhythm going into the playoffs is good”.
“The squad will be used tomorrow and deservedly so, some didn't start last week will want to be in and prove a point to me for sure”.
The playoffs were confirmed last night after playoff contenders Corsham suffered a 4-2 defeat to Longlevens, making it mathematically impossible for them to catch us in our game against them tomorrow.
A fantastic achievement for the club, earning a place in the top five after a season of hard work and commitment.
Raiders will look to build momentum by bouncing back from last week's 3-1 defeat to Droitwich Spa.
Spa struck early and held the lead until the 65th minute, when Jake Collins turned his man and unleashed a thunderbolt from 40 yards into the top left corner.
Raiders looked in control all second half until Captain Jordan Murphy was shown a second yellow card in the 71st minute, a big momentum shift in the game.
Spa took full advantage of the extra man and went on to reclaim the lead and seal the game through two set pieces.
We now turn our attention to Corsham, which will no doubt be a tough test. They’re currently on a 14-game unbeaten run at home, giving Raiders an extra incentive to bring that run to an end and put them under pressure from the first whistle.
Whatever the outcome tomorrow, Raiders will face either Droitwich Spa or Roman Glass in the playoff semifinal away from home, but a win guarantees a 4th place finish ahead of 5th place Cirencester.
Good news for Raiders as Niguel Hinkulow returns to the side after injury.
Captain Jordan Murphy will miss the game due to suspension, but will be back for Tuesday night's playoff game.
