It was Raiders who had the best of the early chances, and it didn't take long. Jade Ferron blitzed down the right wing before delivering a square ball across the box. Players from both side were throwing themselves at the ball. A couple of shot and blocks Worcester couldn't find the back of the net. The pressure ending with a clearance for a corner.
It wasn't long though before Westfields tested new signing, James Behan, the goalkeeper with a fantastic save one-on-one. He made himself big closing the attacker down quickly. The game settled for a while with neither side threatening, all the play around the midfield.
The home side did take the lead though just before the end of the opening half, an own goal, it was very unlucky as it hit the post and cannoned off the back of defender Jordan Stoddart.
Again Raiders had the better chances after the restart. Stoddart hitting the bar with a great header. Towering above the Westfield defender the shot looped before hitting the bar at the far side of the goal. It was the turn of Vanylson Silva next whose clever run saw him through on goal, the shot had former Raiders keeper, Keiron Blackburn, beat before being cleared off the line.
A couple minutes later Murphy hits a wonderful volley from the edge of the area which rattles the post. Raiders were knocking on the door for the leveller, though it wasn't to be and Westfields broke quickly against the run of play and scored their second and final goal of the game.
