Raiders, hoping to cement their place in the playoffs, welcomed Fairford Town to the DOAC.
Fairford arrived with their own hopes of finishing in the playoffs, being only five points off fifth
place.
The game was played in difficult circumstances with strong winds affecting the quality of the game.
First Half
Fairford had the majority of the play during this half, creating chances when pushing forward. The first chance saw the striker shooting narrowly wide. Raiders keeper, Charlie Emery, was called into action, making a brilliant one handed save jumping to his left, later making two very quick saves getting down to his left.
Raiders were not without chances, a Harry Lewis strike was cleared of the line, however it was Fairford who applied more to pressure the Raiders defence.
Goal
On 43 minutes the referee awarded a free kick to Fairford following a tackle by Ben Sango.
Raiders failed to clear the free kick, the ball falling to Fairford ‘s Sol Pryce, who shot the ball into the net.
Second Half
The second half started slowly, however as the half progressed Raiders began to take control and created more chances. Jake Donnolly’s long throw found Jake Collins whose flick on saw Fairford keeper Connor Johns make an excellent save tipping the ball over the bar.
Raiders maintained the pressure on Fairford but just could not find the back of the net. Luck was not with Raiders and when Fairford’s keeper Johns split the ball and Raiders could not force the ball into the net.
The last action of the game saw Jordan Stoddart head into the net on 91 minutes. Disappointingly for Raiders the assistant referee raised his flag for offside. Through the crowded box it was difficult to see how the linesman could arrive at that decision.
The result was extremely disappointing, Raiders deserved to get something from the game. There was some very good performances, in the absent of Jordan Murphy Jordan Stoddart delivered a captain’s performance and Adam Taylor made a difference when he came on from the bench.
Raiders slip to third in the league. The team can look to Monday’s derby game against Pershore
Town to get back to winning ways.
