Worcester Raiders climbed to the summit of the Hellenic Premier League after a fiercely contested and hard-fought victory away at Slimbridge — a match that always promised drama with both sides pushing for promotion.
On a boggy, uneven pitch that made free-flowing football difficult for either team, Raiders started brightly and imposed themselves early.
Fast Start Pays Off
The breakthrough came in the 11th minute. Captain Jordan Murphy showed his class, spinning his defender on the edge of the box before coolly slotting home to give Raiders a deserved lead.
Just two minutes later, Prince Henry nearly doubled the advantage. After an excellent touch and clever lobbed effort, his shot was blocked at the last moment. From the resulting pressure, Bailey Fuller rattled the crossbar from a corner & Nigel Hinkulow forced the Slimbridge keeper into a good save - as Raiders threatened to take full control.
In the 23rd minute, Adam Taylor produced a brilliant run down the left flank, beating his man with pace, though his final effort drifted wide of the post.
Emery Stands Tall
As the half wore on, Slimbridge pushed hard for an equaliser. Charlie Emery was called into action in the 30th and 32nd minutes, producing two outstanding saves to deny the hosts. He wasn’t done there — in the 43rd minute he pulled off another stunning stop to preserve the lead as Slimbridge searched desperately for a way back.

Second-Half Battle
Raiders emerged strongly after the break. Prince Henry was played through early in the second half and struck the side netting in a tight call that could easily have doubled the lead.
With both teams knowing how much was at stake, the intensity rose. Challenges flew in, tempers simmered, and several yellow cards were issued as the contest became increasingly physical.
In the 70th minute, Bailey Fuller burst through on goal, only to be denied by an excellent save from the Slimbridge keeper.
Resolute to the End
The final stages were defined by discipline and determination. Raiders defended superbly as a unit, throwing bodies on the line and managing the game intelligently. When the referee finally blew the final whistle, the travelling supporters erupted in celebration.
A huge three points on the road — and top of the league to show for it.
