Isaac Cooper was instrumental as Worcester Raiders powered to a 3-0 win against Hereford Pegasus FC at Sixways.

Further goals from Kai Mahon directly from a corner kick and Ollie Thompson allowed Raiders to make up for their early-year defeat to Cirencester Town Development at the turn of the year.

Cooper, who briefly joined Bewdley Town earlier this month before committing his future back to the Raiders, showed why he is so important to the club, with the impressive winger causing mayhem for Hereford's defence all afternoon.

Cooper broke the deadlock in the second half following a goalless first 45, with a beautiful bending shot from the outside of the box. His effort nestled into the top right corner to bring delight to Raiders' management team on the sideline.

It was not all plain sailing for Worcester however, as the early minutes of the game were dominated by the visitors. It was this pressure that allowed Hereford to score what they thought was a legitimate goal in the third minute from only a few yards out, however the Pegasus striker was stood in an offside position when receiving the ball.

Worcester came back with a promising response in the seventh minute, Cooper producing his first piece of magic to play a cutting ball across the face of the box to find Jordan Cox, but his fiery shot was pulled wide of the post.

The fast start of the first 10 minutes calmed down for the majority of the first half, right up until the 28th minute, as Hereford’s number seven had a rush of blood to the head and put in a studs-up challenge on Raiders' midfielder Joe Billingham, resulting in an early bath for the Hereford man as he saw red.

The half-time interval allowed both sides to recuperate after the red card, and it only took four minutes of the second half for Cooper to score his pinpoint goal.

It looked like a second goal for Cooper was on the cards in the 55th minute as he found himself with space inside the box, but both of his shots were saved by the gloves of Davies in the Hereford goal.

Raiders were able to double their lead nine minutes later, which saw Mahon score directly from the corner, swinging the ball in with great venom to stun the crowd and the Hereford defence.

A late goal from Ollie Thompson secured all three points for Worcester, who join Studley at the top of the table on 51 points, creating a competitive final stretch to the league campaign.

After the game, new signing Ricardo Richards, who has scored 16 goals from 16 games for his previous club Littleton, shared how well the Raiders have welcomed him into the club, saying: “The lads are amazing, and all of the coaches, even with my son today they made him feel welcome, and that makes it easier to settle in.”
