Play-off final match preview

Club Admin1 May - 20:02

Raiders look to seal promotion dream in Derby play-off final tomorrow.

The lads take the 8-mile trip up to Droitwich Spa, with a sold-out crowd expected for what promises to be a fierce affair.

Manager Jordan Lewis said, “I massively appreciate our supporters. I hope they are all there tomorrow, and they've managed to get tickets with the magnitude of the game".

After a spectacular season from Raiders, it all comes down to this, with a place in step 4 on the line.

Last week, both sides secured crucial victories to book their place in the final. Droitwich Spa edged past Cirencester with a 1-0 win at home, while Raiders claimed an impressive 2-1 victory away at Roman Glass.

“We have done so well to get ourselves into this position, last week's win was huge, they played really well and showed what they are all about, it's just about replicating that now in a one-off game”.

Last week's win got off to the perfect start, with Raiders taking the lead after just six minutes as Adam Taylor reacted quickest to the rebound and slotted home.

Then, in the 84th minute, after it being a pretty even game, Jordan Stoddart fired an absolute screamer from miles out, leaving the keeper in no man's land, sending the raiders bench into absolute eruption.

Raiders were given a late scare when Roman Glass slotted away a penalty in the 94th minute, but Raiders did enough to get over the line after it felt like the referee would never blow the whistle.

Great performances all round from the lads who dug in and gave it everything to earn a well-deserved play-off final spot.

The stage is now set for tomorrow afternoon's long-awaited final against Spa, with the sides meeting for a fifth time this season. A very close, intense game is expected, with each side winning two and losing two against each other.

Raiders travel with real momentum, going six games unbeaten on the road, while Droitwich Spa have also found form with four straight victories.
